Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (Part 2)

After our night in Sydney we got a train to Newcastle for Fat As Butter music festival yewww!

After the 3 hour train ride we were all desperate for a smoke, and super hungry, so we went to the first pub we saw and had fish and chips and cider. Nom.

Then we found our amazing hotel, settled in, and went for a stroll to the Newcastle Ocean Baths for a swim.

We had quite a few adventures on the way home. Via a castle/park/graveyard. Via the Total Fulfillment adult shop for more herbal bits and pieces. Via the scary man who jumped out and yelled in our faces. And via Coles for dinner, drinks, snacks, lotion and facemasks.

Then we enjoyed a really girly evening of facemasks and spa and booze and a movie.

The next day was Fat As Butter. Ice Cube!! Yeah. Totally rad.

Woo! Girls weekend!

We hopped a plain to Sydney last Thursday for a mini getaway. So much fun.

We only had one day in Sydney, but we certainly packed a lot of adventures into our time there.

Of course we started with the tourist hot spots. We got a bus around the city to go see the bridge and the Opera House.

Then we got another bus to Newtown to go visit the Happy High Herb shop, and stopped for a brew.

We got these rediculous ear candles from Happy High Herbs to try fix Laura's ears after the airplane. They were crazy gross. But awesome.

We decided to just spend the night in, so we constructed ourselves a cubby, smoked some puff, and ordered pizza. LOTS of pizza.

So, the Melbourne Festival has been a happenin. And it's been awesome! I love love love the Forum. Definitely my favourite venue in Melbourne, and it is the perfect setting for these gigs.

We saw Boredoms last week doing their incredible Boadrum thing. Ammmmazzzzing! 2 hours of absolute epicness. At the end my eyes and ears were just exhausted from from being stimulated for so long. In a good way of course! A great way. I'm so glad I got to experience this.

And then this week we saw Dead Meadow and Sri Lankan heavy metal band Stigmata. Dead Meadow were so good. I could have stood there watching/listening to them all night and day. And Stigmata... awesome! They seemed so happy to be here, and seemed to love getting out and interacting with their fans, so we jumped at the opportunity to get a photo with a few of the dudes. Totally going to add these guys on facebook yo.

Tonight,, we go to Dengue Fever. Ohhh sni bonggg =D

Yep. Little Caitlin is all grown up (nearly, considering her actual birthday isn't til this weekend)

Shit got rowdy. We smoked a joint with her wise wise dad, Fruity Gordo. Haha he is so wise. Caitlin has the best family. Awesome brothers too, and her Mumma is so lovely. And of course little Rocco and Socks.

Sex Bomb went off. Certainly got the dancefloor a-happenin. And we drank from the blessing cup. What an experience that was. And we got Caitlin the best present. Tickets to Fat As Butter in Newcastle with ICE CUBE. Hells yes. So much other stuff happened, like old ladies giving sex tips, and bonfire chats, and speeches, and tears, and videos, and jagerbombs, and sniffing mortein, and nutbush.

I turned 22 on Friday. Fuck I'm getting old. But I'm pretty sure I still look like a 12 year old, so it's all goood yo.

We got pretty drunk at home. Bianca got her Mexican on. Then we went down to the Mercat for a whole lot of bullshit and party.

It was lots of fun, though I don't remember what I did for the most of it. Danced to Bughouse, saw lots of people, smoked too many cigarettes. And left in time for the sunrise.

Has come to an end for another year. It has been exhausting and brilliant.
I’ve grown to love the being out every night, sleep deprived and hungover midweek, living on cheese and gherkin sandwiches for lunch and porridge for dinner and $7 bottles of wine. And every gig I went to was so very memorable.
I finally got to see Foals live, and I got to share it with Chloe! Mid-week dance party win! And BRMC rocked my socks off. Brilliant live performance, amazing light show, just plain awesome. And The Strokes... Wowza! I was in the same room as Julian Casablancas! And hearing those guitar riffs live made me smile so big :D And Midlake; 7 dudes on stage just jamming, weaving guitars and flutes and tambourines and drums and bells and vocals into such a beautiful layered sound. And beards! So many beards. And Broken Social Scene, they are just so darn cool. And their songs are pure genius, and they perform them so perfectly. I did feel slightly ripped off after reading the setlist from the night before, but oh well, I spose they can’t help it if someone gets sick on tour. They still played a great selection of songs. And last, but definitely not least, was Jonsi. Oh he is so unbelievably beautiful. That voice! He just leaves you utterly speechless, like you just witnessed the most amazing thing. I have now seen/heard him sing 3 times and he still does this to me. Amazing amazing amazing.
These 2 weeks have been the bomb. I am so amped for more adventures and excitement and the end of winter and the return of sunshine! Yeeeeee

So I saw Cat Stevens/Yusuf Islam live in concert. Twice. Bahaha I still cannot believe it. Truly amazing. My dad took these photos.. I was too awestruck to use my camera haha.

Seriously, best show ever. Unforgettable. His voice was spot on. And such a fantastic setlist of songs spanning his whole musical career. And he is just such a lovely humble man too.

Number one highlight would have to be "Where do the Children Play?", because well it is my favourite song in the whole wide world and to hear it live was just indescribable :) And as Yusuf himself pointed out, this song is still just as relevant now as when he wrote it 40+ years ago. Oh he is such a genius

I'm in need of some

Lol at finding this bulletin I posted on myspace back in March 2008. I actually remember writing this. I was sitting outside on the ledge above my bedroom window at my old house. That was a good spot to sit. From memory I was in need of inspiration then too

After sitting out on the roof for about 2 hours last night, I came up with a few small things I want to do in the coming weeks and months...
1. I want to go have fish and chips at the beach on a nice warm night. Followed by much drinking at the pub. Then eventually sand angels and island hopping back at the beach =)
2. I also want to go swimming at the beach during a thunderstorm, after a nice sunny day so the water is still warm, and watch the sky light up
3. I want to steal my dads tent for a weekend. Set up camp on my rooftop. Take the esky filled with beers, and a lantern and some good tunes, and fall asleep watching the stars and the city lights
4. Go on a random longgg drive with Lally in search for the worlds greatest caramel slice crankin' 50 cent out the car. Hahahaa
5. Go to a park on a cold frosty night, all rugged up and just sit on the swings for hours
6. Drive out to some random street in some random suburb and go nick-knocking. And possibly have 'When You Were Young' blasting out the stereo on the drive. LOLL (Hannah and Tegan, im looking at you =P)
7. Go on a river cruise to Williamstown, and spend the afternoon drinking coffee in a cute little cafe
8. Go proper camping in a national park or somewhere miles away from here. Late night walks through the darkness, kick the can, campfires, basically a "pissup with marshmallows"
9. Have a picnic at Lakeside Drive in Burwood on a Sunday afternoon when nobody is around
10. Randomly jump on the first train I see. Then get off when I feel like it. Then get a tram somewhere else. Then maybe even hop on a bus. Stop for lunch somewhere. Probably get lost and have to ask for directions. Then eventually make my way back home

Oh innocent fun. I would still love to do all of these things

We visited Mill and Biancaballz' friends from the courts who live in Bendigo. They had an awesome tree stump in the front yard which was fun to dance on, and an even awesomer bush which was fun to run into

But we eventually made it into the festival and managed to see some bands. Yay. Bianca was super happy

So it's been about 2 months since my last post.. Blergh I cannot be ferrked posting up all the excitement between then and now, so I figure I will just pick back up as of the weekend just gone.

Me and Millballz stole Mothtrolls car for the weekend and roadtripped to Mt Gambier SA for Hot Licks music festival. The town was immaculate, with the bluest skies and the greenest grass and the most colourful flowers and the friendliest townsfolk ever.

We spent our lovely sunshiny Saturday down in a crater by a beautiful lake, surrounded by cliffs and amazing scenery, listening to some of the best Melbourne bands around.

Tis the season of 21st'. Hannah had a lovely shindig at her house. Daylight savings tricked us all and we stayed there til after 3 in the morning with no clue what the time was. And Tori and Davs were down from Hamilton Island. We danced, and drank, and caught up with people from school I hadn't seen in yonks, and reminisced over embarrassing stories from our youth. Oh it was fun.

I've got my hands on the tunes, but I really wish I had scored a copy of the book with photos by David Lynch. Limited to 5000 copies. All sold out. Going for a couple hundred bucks on ebay. Damn. I may have to add it to my Christmas wishlist.

We visited the Osaka Sky Tower and realised the view would be much more spectacular at sunset, so we kept ourselves occupied for hours drinking beers, eating hotdogs and watching a game of what looked like dodgeball (we were 173m above the city so it was hard to tell).

And we celebrated in style of course. Us ladies wore dresses and heels and sipped on champagne, and the young men donned shirts and ties and smoked cigars for the occasion.

Did we let our fancy attire get in the way of us letting our hair down? Hells no! Speeches were misplaced and forgotten. The nutbush was performed in front of confused parental figures. Cigarettes ran out, and the cigarette vending machine refused to accept our shrapnel. Hugs and D&M's were in abundance. And we all had one thing in common... a love of our dear friend. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DANIEL!

Lessons learnt from the first time...

- Don't stay in $15 hotels! They are probably designed to house dirty minded old business men, in a bad area filled with sex shops and many many more dirty minded old men

- ALWAYS sit in the smoking carriage in the trains. Japan is full of novel ideas, and this is the best one

- Legal drinking age is 20... not 18 duh

- Go to more bars and clubs now that we ARE over 20

- Luggage is a pain in the ass. Ditch it

- Buy more disposable cameras and film because they are near impossible to re-fill in Australia

- Don't leave your awesome plastic umbrella in the train!

- Eat something other than Macca Dees, but still attempt to try everything on the Maccas menu =P

- Make friends with the locals

- Buy more stuff! You're on holiday stupid! Splurge a little

- Hang out at parks like the locals

- Start drinking earlier in the day to avoid wasting the next day on a hangover

- Bring back more Kool Boost cigarettes! You WILL miss them when you run out and savour your very last one 'til new years. Yes, they ARE that amazing

- If there is peach toilet paper in the hotel, STEAL IT!!!

So I turned 21 last week. We had a picnic come mad hatter tea party in the park on Saturday to celebrate

There was fairy bread, cupcakes, feathers, capes, masks and ponchos. Invisibility glasses, home-made kites, a magical future telling coffee cup, a headless giraffe, a dragon and a gigantic banana tree

Sid came to visit. He definitely brought a whole new dimension to said picnic. He also brought some friends along for the ride; Mary and Wendy and Mr Squirrel

Safe to say the whole day was like a trip down a rabbit hole into a world full of utter nonsense

Thursday trivia nights just keep getting more and more eventful.

We met some New Zealanders who asked us if we knew where to get a spliff. Then I decided I want to become a travel agent and get high in a million different places all around the world.

We generally failed at trivia, but won 2 bonus rounds! Which meant 2 free jugz of beeer. Props to Daniel for his lame joke skillz. And props to Mothcontroll who owns at the PHYSICAL CHALLENGE.

Then we picked up my laundry and came home for nutbush and club action as usual.

Then we all died a happy happy death. Trivia nights WIN.

We love roadtrips

We missed our turnoff to Daylesford and almost headed to Radelaide, but a quick turnaround and a good bush bash got us back on course

Set up our tent in the back of our friend's holiday house, and kept warm by squishing the 5 of us in a 3 man tent

Me, Millballz and Mothcontrol ended up going for a late night adventure walk down the road, and lay on the road watching the stars. Fear of traffic then persuaded us to head back to the tent for a few hours restless sleep, before heading off again first thing in the morning

We made a number of pit stops on the way back to Melbourne. First was Macca Dees for breakfast. Then to 'The Cross'; a rather bizarre hill with little prayer rooms and the stations of the cross around it, and a big neon cross on top

We continued to head back to Melbourne, but the sun came out and we felt our adventure was not yet over. Another course change lead us to Caitlin's house which burnt down in the Black Saturday bushfires. We found dress-ups in the shed and went for a wander in her mum's Japanese garden and soaked up the sun

We got a pug for the long weekend.
Its name was possibly oliver or chunkers.... or just pug.
The only song I could think of was 'pug' by the smashing pumpkins.
Its a good song. I don’t really know how much it relates to pug but.

Anyhow one balmy, frosty Saturday morning I decided to take pug for a stroll through a tour of the Carlton parks- argyle square right around through all of Carlton gardens. By taking for a walk of course, he did most of the walking and I just followed

A grand escapade.

We found this tree, which we stood by for a while. I liked it because I tried to find out how many faces I could see in it. I think pug just liked the smell of it.

Pug was good at finding things. while he wasn’t that good at finding faces in trees he was especially good however at finding random things to eat. He ate a lot. Usually other dogs poop, or leaves or muggy puddles. This was one of his best finds. I think there was pizza in it.

We ended up walking far and wide, high and low, crunching and through foliage, skipping through puddles,

Bendirat Part 2

The next morning we all woke up with about 15 minutes til check-out. We somehow managed not only to get out of our hotel within 15 minutes of waking up, but also made it to Macca Dees within half an hour for the last few minutes of breakfast menu.

We again hit the road, and headed to Bendigo for Groovin the Moo =)

Millballz and I didnt have tickets, but when we ran out of ideas on how to sneak in, we decided to just buy tickets. And oh it was worth it!

We made awesome new friends,

We chilled in the sun and listened to mad tunez,

We danced and sang along to Art vs Science "Parlez vous francais? HEy. Parlez vous Francais? HEY",

We ran out of cigarettes and had to ask randoms for some,

and we saw De La Soulll and so many other great bands.

When the sun went down we got sooo damn cold that we just had to bail.

The car ride back to Melbourne was nice and mellow, drifting in and out of consciousness, venturing deeper and deeper into the almost endless tunnel created by the car headlights on the tree lined highway. Only the occasional car zooming past in the opposite direction would remind me where I was and that I wanted another cigarette.

Then all of a sudden we were back in civilisation in Richmond. Bendirat was in the past. Our beloved roadtrip was over.

Bendirat Part 1

We planned a roadtrip to go see The Scare and Reptiles on Friday night in Balarat, then head to Bendigo on Saturday for Groovin The Moo. None of us could have possibly expected it to be as much fun as it was.

The drive was awesome. There was music blasting, cigarette ash flying, gin and tonic spilling. We had nuts and Mary Jane by the bagfuls.

Before we knew it we were stopped at a servo 15 minutes from Balarat to get fuel and food. Me, Millballz and Daniel were on a nut diet by this stage however, and wanted only cigarettes and a drink refill, then we were back on the road.

When we got to B-rat we found our hotel, got changed into our sneaky disguises, crushed some more nutz and headed to Karova Lounge for the gig.

Before the bands started we took charge of the pool room and jukebox, and created what I'm sure was a horrible sight. 6 kids running around with wigs on and shoes off. Lying on the pool table. Sitting on the floor. Singing 'Tiny Dancer' into a pool cue. Spilling beer. With pupils like dinner plates

These people are absolutely amazing

Karova was pretty quiet, but in all honesty, we were making enough of a ruckus to make the place feel full (And we were so reckless on the d-floor that there was really no room for anyone else haha)

The Scare are mad cunts, and of course Reptiles rocked it too as usual. Unfortunately they all headed back to Melb town after the gig, so we had no choice but to kick on without them

when you wake up to a mystery black man peering into your bedroom at 11am, its clear your day is going to be an interesting one

yes. a random dude walked into our house while we were sleeping and decided to come into my room and talk gibberish to me

apparently there were people upstairs having some sort of party, so of course my first reaction is OOOH theres people upstairs? KICKKK ONNN

but no, when i went upstairs there were no people. just sleeping millie. and then of course when i went back downstairs, mystery black man was gone

was i tripping balls? or was mystery black man really there? i think its safe to say it was a little bit of both

then the day just got more interesting. slut alley tv party, impromptu photo shoot, mary jane, gin and tonics, mill starting some guy walking down the street thinking he was mystery black man, cigarettes, skating sesh, fish and chips

after stuffing our faces with fish and chips we got sleepy. tried napping but then decided a nut washed down with goon and green cordial would cure our ailment. and that it did

we found some people we knew at a house partee down the road. sourced out a kitchen bench and served ourselves up some more crushed nut

after that, things get a little sketchy. we danced, we wandered and went on adventures, got a family portrait with mum and dad, saw cat woman and cinderella, met someone who was a care bear in a previous life, then stumbled into the realms of 'no-sentenceville'

eventually we returned home to mary jane. she gave us a quick lesson on physics and string theory and parallel universes before sending us to bed

Sunday Roast

After a weekend filled with mayhem, we all woke up Sunday morning and cleaned like we had never cleaned before.

We did washing, and went to the supermarket, and replaced all our dead downlights.

Now Slut Alley is a work of art.

Then we cooked up a celebratory roast, Slut Alley style. With wine, and candles, and an entree of smoked herbs, and a whole bag of potatoes, and chicken, and gravy, and apple crumble with custard, and after dinner menthol cigarettes, and mmmmm.

Black Saturday

Okay so Black Saturday was a horrible day for Victoria. Worst bushfires we have seen, and many of us know people who were directly affected.

To be honest, we had no idea on the day. In fact, we didn't even realise just how hot it was. We had a great day. Kick-on in the park, nuts, melted chocolate, tree climbing, sprinklers and hose fights.

It wasn't til a few days later that we realised how serious the fires were, and that one of our good friends had lost her home.

Daniel went up to her place and got some amazing photos of the devastation, 2 of which got published in the Herald Sun.

So although Black Saturday was surely the worst day of some people's lives, for us it turned out to be a pretty positive day. Rather than feel guilty about that, I say at least some good came out of it. Props for the photos Daniel!

Now I went to Sound Relief yesterday. Longest day ever. Stood up all day in the torrential downpour of rain, on 2 hours sleep, scattered as fuck, no coffee, no food, no cigarettes. But spirits were high. It was one of the most amazing things you could imagine, 80000+ people yelling out the lyrics to classic Aussie rock tunes in unity, drenched to the bone, never forgetting the cause we were there for.

Scare night? Funny story about that...

I don't have photos, because well taking a camera to see The Scare is not advisable!

It was an unusual night. Everyone got pretty wasted at our place beforehand. There were ice fights, shaving cream in peoples eyes, people jumping out of our kitchen window. It got pretty crazy.

Then at Roxanne I'm pretty sure Daniel pissed off a lot of people. Including his own beloved band The Scare ahhahhaa. They really don't like him. Owned.

We danced. There were strobes. We love strobes. Then we went to Inner City Waste, well sort-of. We sat out front on milk crates for 4 hours or so. We were the resident homeless. Funny story about that... we can't help being homeless. It's not Millie's fault her dad was a coke dealer. And it's not my fault that my dad was her dad's best customer. And it's not our fault we were force fed drugs as tiny kildren and taken away by DHS. Yep we spun a lot of bullshit on Friday night. And we made a few new friends in doing so.

Then we kicked-on! Yeahh KicKk onnn!! Up In SMoke tour 2001 is going the be the soundtrack of our 2009.

Housewarming Party

Ok we have been far too quiet over the past month or so. The first few weeks were due to moving out and trying to find a new place as already mentioned. And well we have found a place now, but have not yet set up the internet.

The end of an era

So we have been very quiet lately. And that may be due to the fact that all our plans and dreams have just been foiled

My lovely apartment, in which Millie and Daniel were soon to move in to, has been wrongfully taken from us

I moved out on New Years Day which was a sad occasion

However we are about to start a new adventure in a new place and things will get right back on track

Expect a mad housewarming party soon =)

not according to my sisters unusual religion in which she worships the number 8. she told me around november 2007, that 2008 is the year of the lord and would be the best year ever. and im thinking im almost converted to this religion, because she was spot on. 2008 has been one hell of an amazing year

2008 has seen the formation of many new friendships. in fact, me and millie met early in 2008
we also made friends with grand national and drank goon with them

third class, pogo and fashion keyboard were our favourite places to go, until they got overrun with douche bags

my rooftop became the place to be

there was 'scare night'! i think scare night will go down in history as one of the most messy and amazing nights ever

and of course we formed fuckcunt! and it has since become the love of our lives

we invented afternoon brews at st jeromes. and it became a weekly ritual of beer, songwriting, junk food and stupidity

went to sydney and managed to stay awake for 24 hours thanks to picnics, music, dancing, drinking, strobelights, cabaret, dougie, coffee and macca dees

experienced the joy of japan!

invented goon juice!! and now i cant imagine life without it

Double Standard

so we havent posted a blog in a while. a lot has been occurring
relocating houses etc etc
and we have just had a pretty massive weekend. we went a bit crazy in the brain. probably from sleeping at such unusual hours 4 days in a row

christmas day turned into a fantastic night of drinking and dancing and limbo and drumming and guitar solos on the floor until 4:30 in the morning
boxing day was the last bang gang at third class. even though 'standard' was the word of the evening, it was not a standard night at all. we were in alice in wonderland
saturday was reptiles at pony. apparently i was in fairyland. i saw some people that werent really there, and then i saw a man playing a cello but well he wasnt playing a cello at all. and then when i closed my eyes i saw an elephant splashing in the water
and yesterday, we just felt odd. staring was nice. and i realised that no thoughts were running through my brain. it just went beeep beep be bee beeep

and today i feel pretty standard again

Wet, horrible, windy, miserable, long, grueling day! This is Summer!? Hard to believe.

I am exhausted. I've worked full time hours, 18 days in a row now, including the weekends. And I have gone out in between as well; Holy Fuck on Wednesday night, Lee Gallery on Thursday and work drinks on Friday night. And tomorrow I have Nevereverland to contend with. Don't get me wrong, it should be a fabulous day, but I may just have to call in sick on Monday ha ha.

Just going back to HOLY FUCK for a minute... this event was definitely blogworthy! It was just so odd. Firstly to see a girl shuffling along to Mountains in the Sky =/ and then the craziness that is Holy Fuck.

About half the time my ears were actually in pain from the volume of the music they were making, and the other half I was thinking 'what the fuck is that instrument they are playing now!?'. Dude on the right had a crazy little piano thing which he blew into to make noise and then he put it on top of a hugely distorted microphone so it sounded hectic. And dude on the left used what I presume was a guitar pickup as a microphone. He seemed to just hold it in his teeth and make noise while he played keyboards and pressed some big red button with his hands. Oh and he occasionally used some unusual contraption with film stuff running through it. And when he pulled on the film it made like a scratching noise? Yeah I cannot even begin to explain that one. Hahaha. I loved it. It was intense. Awesome gig.

although it took me like 5 minutes to make the new title picture, i think the mjority of the time got taken up trying to adjust the sizes of the darn template. i gave up trying to change the font. so this is it.

so the day when i move out is nearing closer.
we decided to perhaps look into giving the place a new revamp. well as usual. i have nothing better to do than to google pictures.

i like it.

In conclusion, what i am thinking is just putting a whole lot of pictures up on this white wall in the lounge room. luckily aswell, courtesy of dear mr. photographer daniel, we should be able to get some pretty decent stuff up . i also have this long mirror, and hoping to try and find an oval one.

so in the end, it would be nice for the wall to look a bit like that wall.

hint: if anyone has an oval mirror, it would help me alot.
