Day 6 - Maihama/DisneySea

Had a hotel breakfast in the morning, then checked out. Headed to our hotel in Maihama which is near where the Disney resort is. Our hotel was set out like a 50's diner. We got there before check in time so we just left our bags and went for a stroll. We found a mad park with some random cats just wandering around. We named them Cat Stevens and Sour Puss. Sour Puss wasnt very friendly, but Cat Stevens was awesome. He showed us around the park and even posed for some photos.

Got back to the hotel at check-in time and discovered a complimentary drinks bar with tea and ice and juice etc. We still had some gin and bacardi and sake and wine and some random 'suntory -196' drink, so decided to mix some cocktails and get our drink on before hitting up Disney Sea. We got through most of it and were pretty happy by the time we left. 

We spoke a lot of French while waiting for our train, and Millie smoked a cigarette the wrong way while standing on the platform. Disney Sea was crazy fun. We did a lot of running. And went on a few rides.

Safe to say the 'Journey to the Center of the Earth' ride was best. And the 'Tower of Terror' went alright. On the way back we got Maccas yet again.

Day 5 - Harajuku

We went to Maccas for breakfast. They have most of the usual things, like hash browns and mc muffins, but they also had these pancakey sorta things with egg and bacon.
We love Macca Dees! =)



Then we got a train to Harajuku, expecting to do some serious shopping and see some crazy dressed Harjuku girls. Not many of the latter, but we definitely found some mad shopping places.


Harajuku is more up-market than the other areas we have seen. Most of the shops were brand names, and the streets were very classy and tidy.



We found Harajuku Street which had soooo many second-hand shops with vintage t-shirts and hats and shoes and awesome shirts.

We went a bit crazy with the spending. This was seriously the best street in the whole world!

Then we found Takeshita Street which was a bit more busy and more how we pictured Harajuku to be.

They sold some crazy massive shoes in all the shoe shops.



Eventually we finished our shopping and headed to our next hotel in Ueno which is on the other side of Tokyo. It's surprisingly easy to get around Japan. There are train lines going in every direction and they are really easy to use.


Our hotel room was a smoking room, so we were able to smoke in the bed haha. And smokes in Japan are only like $3 a packet and have all crazy flavours.


We decided to go for a stroll and found a crazy market.

Day 4 - Train to Tokyo

Got a good nights sleep last night. Woke up about 9:30 for our 11am check out. We then made our way to the station for a train to Tokyo. 

We stopped at a vending machine to buy lemon water because we thought it looked pretty rad. 

We accidentally got on the one type of train that isn't covered by our rail pass haha, but swapped at Nagoya. It probably saved us a lot of time because that type of train stops at a lot less stations. 

Anyway, we got to Tokyo at about 3pm, then got another train to the Shibuya district which is known as the youth section on Tokyo. Its amazing! exactly how I imagined Tokyo would be like.

Our hotel here is really nice. They have mad wall paper on the walls and the ceilings. Annnddd they have peach toilet paper. Its pink in colour, and smells like peaches.

We went to Macca Dees and Millie tried the shrimp burger. 

Then we went for a stroll and did some shopping and sight-seeing. Tokyo is just amazing!

Day 3 - Flight to Osaka

We got up early. Very early. 3:45am to be exact, for our shuttle bus to the airport. We picked up our bags from the bag storage place, had a quick change of clothes, and checked in for our flight. The flight was close to 9 hours with a stop in the Gold Coast. We slept for the majority of it and arrived at Kansai airport at 6:15pm local time. It was raining, but still quite warm and humid. We exchanged our Rail Passes and got a train to the city and found our hotel.

We were pretty starving after our flight so we went for a stroll to find some dinner.

There are lots of vending machines just scattered around the streets. Most of them sell either beers or cigarettes.

We eventually found a cute little restaurant where there was Judo on the TV and a man smoking inside.

Then we walked back to the hotel and went to bed.

Day 1 & 2 - Sydney

3/10/08. Up at 7am for our flight to Sydney. Few brews in the airport before our flight. Arrived about lunch time.

Got rid of our luggage. Managed to find our way to the city. Found some lunch. Wandered around town in the 33 degree heat in search for a cafe. Easy task we thought, but we were soon proven wrong. The best we could do was a Gloria Jeans on Oxford street, where we well and truly saw the culture of Sydney town! It made us miss good old Melbourne, and crave gin and tonics at our favourite watering hole St Jeromes, so we then went in search for something with a similar vibe. No avail, but we stumbled upon Darling Harbour which was good enough. Gin and tonics were smashed.
Later we went for a stroll to the supermarket for snacks; carrot, pasta salad, lemonade, snow peas, grapes, chips and dip; and then we had a lovely picnic in the park where locals presumed us to be homeless haha.

Eventually we made our way to Surrey Hills for even more drinking before heading into The Gaelic Club to see The Futureheads. We figured seeing a gig was the best way to spend our one night out in Sydney. The gig was goooood.They got us excited. Jebus was there.
We then made our way to Kings Cross. Sydney locals were very unhelpful, but we made it. We went to Mum/Dad/World Bar/whatever you want to call it. They had no cloak room so I was carrying around my hand luggage from the plane, but thennn we remembered we bought vodka in the airport which was still in there, so we went to the bathroom and had a few shots =)

We danced, they had strobe lights, but we had our own as well so DOUBLE THE STROBELIGHTTSS. 

That pretty much occupied us until closing, when we met Trystan and Jen who would not let us stop dancing! They seemed to know everyone in the club, and we very helpful and friendly, so we stayed with them for a while. 'Turning Japanese' came on and we got even moarr exciteeeddd! We explained that we were from Melbourne and were going to Japan and planned on staying out all night, so they offered to take us around and occupy us all morning. We eventually left The World Bar and hit some seedy little 24 hour place in Kings Cross. The crowd was old. We met Doogie who would have been in his 50's. He offered to buy us drinks, and when we said no he offered to buy us juice or coffee or breakfast. Odd fellow. Jen put him back in his place and sent him to the naughty corner a few times. We also got chatting with Jen and Trystan about all things Fuckcunt. We discovered Trystan is the director of The World Bar, and he suggested we try arrange a gig there. So thats what we shall do once we get back to Melb.

After hours of sitting we decided it was time to leave. Jen and Trystan continued on to a friends house, and we made our way back to town to get coffee and breakfast and try stay awake until Mark came to pick us up. At about 8:30am we found a hotel cafe that was open and probably sat there for 2 hours. Then we headed to Macca Dees and chilled there for a further few hours. Eventually Mark picked us up and we got to their house. Had a roast and some much needed sleep.
