Riceboy Sleeps

We filled our pockets with dry leaves,
made leafy pillows and lay down beneath the cinnamon tree.
We stared up at the sun with our eyes closed
and we saw the dust in the air turn into fireflies.
We lay with the day.
The wind snuck into the cracks of our sleaves,
and played songs in our ears.
I used to watch you sleeping.

A few months ago I went and saw Sigur Ros. I love them for reasons I can’t explain. Blogged about the gig here.

Jonsi Birgisson, lead singer of Sigur Ros also collaborated with his boyfriend Alex Somers a few years ago to create a limited edition picture book. They had an exhibition of the prints in Melbourne this time last year which I was luck enough to attend, and I am also lucky enough to own a copy of the book.
Thought I would share a few pictures from the book, because it is truly one of the most precious things I own...

moto surf!!!

he he, quite possibly this movie will always stay close to my heart.

Day 14 & 15 - Osaka

The next morning we went to Universal Studios. We got a twilight passport and went on as many rides as we could in 4 hours. Which turned out to be not so many due to mass lines
I got owned on the Jurassic Park ride. T-rex tried to eat us then we went splash then I got drenched har har
And E.T said our names. It was pretty crazy
After Universal Studios we went back to Charlie Brown's for a few drinks on our last night in Japan
We asked for 'the bill' and the girl misheard us brought out 2 beers hahaha

In the morning we packed up and checked out of our beloved hotel kinki. Our flight wasnt til 8pm so we left our bags and did a bit of shopping and eating and snack buying and chilling before making our way to the airport
I spoke to a dude on the train who was studying english. He asked a lot of questions about Australia which made me miss home
Our flight was delayed about 2 hours so they gave us juice and some bread thing. We just about went insane in ze airport. Finally got on the plane and suffered 24 hours on and off flights, in and out of airports. But now we are back in Melbourne and oh it is loverly to be back!

Day 11. 12 & 13 - Osaka

Even before we got to hotel kinki we knew it would be an improvement on the other fail place. The dude at the desk spoke english very well and arranged to give us the same room for an extra night
We went for a walk and found KFC and an awesome place that had crepes with fruit and chocolate. Mmm
Crepes made us happy

Our room has a mad view
We seem to o a lot of drinking and smoking in Japan. Alcohol is cheap here too. We bought a bottle of tequila for like $20 and some gin for like $16 and goon for $4 from 7/11
We love goon juice
We decided we should go do karaoke at least once while in Japan. We had to make sure we were sufficiently drunk first. We got through a bottle of goon and juice, and a fair amount of vodka as well. Karaoke was not at all how we imagined. We were put in a tiny room by ourselves and we couldnt even work out how to use the thing because it was all in Japanese
When the girl came to give us our drinks we asked her to pick a song for us, and she chose Britney Spears har har
The we went to Charlies Bar in the arcade near our hotel. It was awesome. We had 'beer ecstasy' which is some sort of beer cocktail
Then when Charlies closed at 1am we decided we were having too much fun. We changed into heels and hit the town, even though Millie is underage in Japan hahaha
We found the worlds cutest little bar. The people there were loverly and spoke quite a lot of english. and somehow we convinced them we were from France. And we drank beer. And sang them some fuckcunt songs. And told them all about Melbourne. And i'm pretty sure we didnt leave til 4:30 in the morning bahaha.
And safe to say my head was pretty sore when we finally woke up!
Didn't do much the next day due to hangovers, but did manage to go to Hep 5 and go for a spin on the gigantic ferris wheel

Day 10 - Osaka

So we left Hiroshima and got ze train back to Osaka. Our hotel seemed pretty out of the way. We had to swap trains a few times and it took pretty much forever. Then the stupid station at the other end had stairs! No escalator or elevator or anything. Not fun with all our luggage. And then our hotel was crappy too.
We had to take off our shoes and wear blue plastic slippers, and our door was made of tin stuff, and we had no bathroom, and it was just an epic fail. I guess you get what you pay for, and this place was only $15 each a night haha. Anyway it was rather gross so we bailed a day early and headed to hotel kinki instead =)

Day 9 - Hiroshima

The next morning we got up to make our way to Hiroshima.
Har har. We love Gibley's vodka. It's ¥620 a bottle, which is like $7AU.
On the way to the station we saw some mad dancing competition thing. And there was double dutch, and crazy dudes doing bmx tricks.
Hiroshima was not quite what we expected. It was still a big bustling city with heaps of neon lights.
Mmm, and we had the worlds best desert.
We went for a late night stroll to try find the atomic bomb memorial site. We found it but it was pretty dark so we decided we'd come back in the day.

We got quite lost on the way back to our hotel, but found it eventually thanks to billy the kid.

So next morning we went back to the atomic bomb memorial park, visited the museum etc etc before heading back to Osaka for the rest of our time in Japan.

Day 7 & 8 - Kyoto

Had breakfast in the hotel. Checked out and left Tokyo for our train to Kyoto. You can smoke on the trains too.
Kyoto is pretty. Definitely a change of pace to Tokyo. Our hotel room was a traditional Japanese style room, and you sleep on mattresses on the floor. We went to a traditional Japanese restaurant for Dinner and Millie tried the sashimi.
That night we did a bit of drinking and smoking. We had strobe lights and mad tunes.
The next morning we did some sightseeing.
Visited some shrines and art galleries, then went to town and found the worlds most amazing cigarette shop. They had melon cigarettes, cherry cigarettes, multi coloured fruit flavours, chocolate flavoured cigarettes and even some crazy 'herbal' cigarettes that simply said 'ecstasy' on the packet. We also saw an albino dude. An albino Japanese dude. Twas odd.
Went out for dinner again and had a repeat of our drinking/smoking/strobelighting action from the night before.
