If love is a drug....

After a long week of fucking around, almost to the point my brain was about to explode, I sort of feel relieved to say things are back to normal. Its 2 o clock, and I once again find myself in front of the computer. Who would have thought I would find so much relief in my insomniac state.

Last night saw us attend brain Jonestown massacre. Sunday evening, having known all to well that having missed out to both sold out tickets I knew how excited I was to have finally scored some! Sunday brews were mainly sitting around in anticipation of what the antics bjm would hold and the show I was about to see. If you have seen a 'dig' a documentary based around the Dandy Warhol’s and Brain Jonestown, you kind of know what you’re going to step into, and know all too well to expect anything.

9:45pm- this was when we began to anticipate the walk on of the band everyone was here to see. As precise preparations where done by the roadies-laid back smoking on stage and in what seemed to be in a very accurate manner (and I mean EXACT! possibly picking this up when they sprayed what anyone’s guess is, but what smelt like ermmm peppermint deodorant on the microphones?)
10:30- ok so preparations took a bit longer, than what was anticipated. Eventually (half an hour to be exact- but hey who really was counting) when the wait was far too much, and several cheers of the crowd every time the music ended- to then be disappointed for a start of another, the lights dimmed. A change in sound and ANTON! appeared.

???? pm- ok so by this time it was god knows when, ok and maybe the sight of Anton was not an indication that the show was to begin, but just had to continue further preparation- to what I suppose could only be the worlds longest band preparations ever.

FINALLY ALAS! the rest of the band joined, with of course Joel, taking pride front of stage tambourine and cigarette at hand. The moment they played it almost showed the wait was very much worth it. The atmosphere alone, with the odd person trying to light up…the smoke, the music- the vibe was amazing. Truly summed up the bjm spirit. However this was not long lived. With what apparently were some ‘technical difficulties’ it was silence that blanketed the hi-fi, with odd fan remarks and same from bjm. In a gig that had so much expectation, hype so much could perhaps have been a let down.
Possibly the best moment was when they play ‘who?’
For a show with so many expectations - you know to always expect something; in this case the fact that they didn’t do anything. This makes me hate bjm for being so damn good. There is no doubt with the antics and shitting around they do, they could not be so good. But they are. You can just hear it when they play. And forget.
